Apricot Tree (Prunus armeniaca)

The apricot tree (Prunus armeniaca) mostly grows to between 16 and 20 feet tall, although it can sometimes top 30 feet. The origin of the apricot is not clear. Its Latin name refers to Armenia, where it has been cultivated since ancient times. Other sources suggest that it was domesticated around 3000 BCE in India. A team of geneticists have placed its source in China. Mediterranean countries such as Italy and Spain are the main apricot growing areas in Europe today.
The wood of the apricot is rather simple, but also very subtle. It has many nice little details that are noticed only after looking at it more closely. Similar to all fruit woods, its wood is dense and hard. The color ranges from a  light brown to almost orange. The small trunk diameter makes larger pieces quite rare.

Dimensions: approx. 125 x 40 x 10 mm
You will get the shown pair of scales!

The piece is dry and can be processed immediately.

The scales is sanded and coated with a layer of shellac.
This allows you to see exactly the color you will obtain.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
