African ebony (Diospyros crassiflora) has been admired for centuries because of its natural black color and its other properties. Depth black ebony is extremely rare to find (usually only about 10% of the stock). In most cases, the wood is crisscrossed with lighter lines.
The wood is extremely hard and dense and is therefore highly sought after for fine crafts of any kind.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
