Mun Ebony (Diospryus Mun.) is a rare species with origin in Southeast Asia, characterised by beautiful black stripes and a brown contrast. Like all ebony trees, the trees are rather small and reach a growth height of about 9-15 m.Only just under a third have the desired dark-coloured heartwood.
The wood has quite a high density and is one of the most stable ebony woods on the market. Provided that appropriate care is taken during processing, it is rather unlikely to bend. Mun Ebony is used, for example, for knife handles, pens, but also for acoustic instruments because of its great tone. It is possible to achieve a natural glass-like polish when turning.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
