Andrampotsy (Asteropeia rhopaloides) is native in Madagascar, it's an evergreen, medium-sized tree found only in the tropical and subtropical rainforests of the island off the southeastern coast of Africa. The tree reaches a height of 65-100 feet and a diameter of about 30 inches. Also known as manoka, wood is especially good for joinery, carving and turning in interior design applications. It is also used to prop up mining tunnels, construct bridges, and make rail sleepers It also suitable for heavy floors.
The wood is hard, heavy, and dense and is outstanding to work with and polishes wonderfully.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
