The mulberry (Morus nigra/alba) came to be cultivated in Northern Europe to feed the silkworm, which feeds on mulberry leaves. Silk production is no longer an economic factor, bu the mulberry trees are still standing. And that’s a good thing.
The wood of the mulberry is hard and dense. It has a yellow/greenish color and is very durable. The burl is rare and much sought after and not without reason.
