Banksia GrandisBanksia Grandis comes from South West Australia and is the type of banksia which forms the largest cones, from a family of about 80 subspecies. This type is also known as Bull Banksia, Giant Banksia or Mangite. As a tree, Banksia Grandis grows up to 15 metres tall. The exciting thing about the banksia is that the seed pods only open and release the seeds in the heat of a bush fire. These are further distributed by the wind. Banksia are Australian wildflowers and as such they form very pretty flowers during the summer months.
The cones are very hard and can be a challenge to turn. Since they are very decorative, they can be used for many turned items, jewellery and other handicrafts. But even unprocessed as purely decorative items, they are eye-catchers.

Dimensions: approx. 150 x 20 x 20 mm, Pen Blank for large fountain pens and rollerballs

The pictured penblank is an example piece, you will receive a penblank which is similar in grain and color.

The delivered Penblanks are dry and can be processed immediately.

Our PenBlanks are ALL labeled, so they have a sticker with the wood species (in german).

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
